15 Oct 2007 - TRIDENT REPORT OCTOBER 2007

1st EYNSFORD & FARNINGHAM SCOUT & GUIDE GROUP
With the autumn term now under way activities take on more of an inside nature with the darker evenings. This does not stop us from having fun!
The Leaders and Cubs were delighted to be invited the Best Kept Village certificate presentation evening, with special mention to the Cubs who had been out and about helping with various projects in and around the village including a couple of evenings litter picking.
The Scouts and Explorers have been brushing up on their mapping skills, learning about route cards in preparation for an expedition which will help them with their Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.
The Rainbows which started last month is thriving and numbers are now up to 15 and there is a growing band of helpers for the leaders including 2 Guides and 2 Brownies. The Rainbow mascots Olivia and Mr Ted have been having fun too, they are taken home by a different Rainbow each week and then report back the next week with what they have been up to. So far they have been to the library, McDonalds, Swimming, School, parties, a car show room and flown to Corfu in the cockpit with the pilot! So who knows what they’ll get up to next! We are looking forward to the coming months with the Village fireworks and Remembrance Parade which the Group takes an active part in.
The Scouting Centenary celebrations are now nearly over; what a fantastic year to be part of a growing movement which provides as much fun for the adults as the young people it serves.
