15 Apr 2007 - TRIDENT REPORT APRIL 2007

1st EYNSFORD & FARNINGHAM SCOUT & GUIDE GROUP
STOP PRESS – Our planned Jumble Sale on the 28th April has been postponed - a new date will be in next month’s Trident. In the meantime if you have any jumble which needs collecting please call Angela on 01474 852863.
Last month I reported we were holding an event to raise money for Comic Relief in the form of a trading post activity where the trading post created Red Nose money to purchase dominoes for the domino rally. The participants, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts & Guides were sponsored for the event and with other donations we raised a fantastic £250.00 for Comic Relief. WELL DONE EVERYYONE!
We now have a Group website up and running where you can get all the latest information on what we have been up to and up and coming events. Please have a look at it and if you are an ex member or supporter leave us a message – it will be great to hear from you! Just click on www.1steynsfordandfarninghamscoutgroup.btik.com
Coming up in April we have our annual St Georges Day parade at Farningham Woods, in May we are holding a 95th Anniversary Family Camp at Downe, and on the 30 June out annual village extravaganza the FAMILY FUN DAY on the Common Meadow.
As well as all that, Bruce our GSL is taking part in a charity challenge event in the Lake District over a weekend in July in aid of Seafarers UK (formerly King George V fund). The challenge is to walk 24 Peaks, all over 2,400 ft in height and in 24 hours walking (over 2 days). So if you see him treading the paths of the Darenth Valley in the coming weeks as he is training, give him a wave of encouragement as he prepares to take on one of the hardest UK challenges to date. If you would like to sponsor Bruce for this very worthy cause he has a ‘just-giving’ website http://www.justgiving.com/Bruces24PeaksChallenge. If you prefer to sponsor him via a more traditional method please contact him directly.
