The Group was first registered in October 1912 by Miss Sydney Dyke, aunt of our Group President Guy Hart Dyke.
In those early years the Troop met in an outbuilding of a house near the Roman Villa in Eynsford. Today we meet in the Edwards Hall in Priory Lane, Eynsford, just around the corner from where the Sydney Hut used to be. |
As Scouting as a movement has grown over the years so has the Eynsford Group. Today we have 4 sections, Beavers for 6-8 year olds; Cubs for 8 -10 1/2 year olds; Scouts for 10 1/2 = 14 year olds and Explorers for 14 -18 year olds. For further information please contact the Group Scout Leader.
The Group is proud of its heritage and honours which include:
Certificate of Commendation fromthe Chief Scout for the Scout Troop for the rescue of an injured walker whilst on camp in Snowdonia
Certificate of Commendation for Meritorious Conduct from the Chief Scout to the Rover Crew in 1963 for the rescue of a walker on Snowdon.
More recently in 1994 two Beavers received the same award for rescuing a friend who became impaled on a wooden fence.
The Edwards Scout Hall built in 1970, is now our home and meeting place. As well as a splendid meeting place for our Scouting sections the hall can be hired for other events by contacting our Hall Booking Secretary.
In 2007 we are celebrated our 95th Anniversay as well as the Centenary of Scouting. The 95th Anniversary Re-union Dinner took place on 1st March 2008 at Eynsford Village Hall, Eynsford, Kent.
